Chuck Snyder has called East Aurora home with his wife, Sheila, for more than 35 years. He has spent 13 years serving the residents of Aurora, including as Town Supervisor, Deputy Supervisor, and Town Councilman. His experience in town government has given him a firsthand understanding of Aurora’s operations, its neighborhoods, and the challenges facing the community.
Chuck has been closely involved in both the original Regional Comprehensive Plan and Aurora’s newly adopted Comprehensive Plan. He has also served for more than five years on the Planning and Conservation Board, working to preserve Aurora’s rural character while allowing for thoughtful, controlled growth.
During his service to the Town, Chuck has helped bring more than $10.4 million in grant funding to improvement projects in East Aurora and West Falls. He has focused on finding outside funding for local priorities while reducing the amount that must be borne directly by local taxpayers.
For more than 15 years, Chuck has devoted time to the Code Review Committee, helping update the Town Code as Aurora’s needs have changed. He also played a role in bringing Town and Village operations together under one roof at 575 Oakwood Avenue and has worked with department heads and fellow board members on the day-to-day needs of the Town.
Chuck serves on the Board of Directors of the Association of Erie County Governments and works with other local leaders on issues that cross municipal boundaries. In Aurora, that has included coordination with the Village of East Aurora on shared services and economic development.
Chuck’s involvement in Aurora extends well beyond Town Hall. He has been active with local charitable organizations for more than 30 years and has spent decades working with the people and organizations that make the community what it is.
